ARC-GS seeks to foster a vibrant gender and sexuality research community within the Social Sciences at the UvA.
We do not have research funding of our own, rather, we provide a platform for the different kinds of gender and sexuality research that all of our members do. We are, however, eager to engage in research collaborations.
IMES have embarked upon an explorative project entitled Between ‘rapefugees’ and nativist rape threats. A study of the intersection of race, sex, and (representations of) violence in the city. The aim of this research project is to bring questions of violence vis-à-vis migrants and ethnic and racial minorities to bear upon questions of violence against women and sexual minorities. The project runs from 2019 till 2020.
A first closed workshop within the project took place in January 2020.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic these research activities have been interrupted, but will resume in the academic year 2020-2021. Activities will be announced here. If you are interested in joining this project, get in touch.
