In cases of sexual violence against women, accused perpetrators and their advocates frequently employ different rape myths. Through this behaviour, actors excuse the harmful behaviour of a perpetrator and attribute blame to the victim. In her lecture, Prof. Ravinder Barn presented results of her empirical research in which she examined rape myth acceptance among university students in England and India. Overall, students showed very little acceptance of rape myths, with especially female and older students being less accepting of rape myths.
